  10.           +o _I_r_i_x _6._2 is the first release fully to be based on the
  11.             _X_1_1_R_6 release from the X Consortium. The _I_r_i_x _5._3
  12.             release had _X_1_1_R_6-based clients and libraries, but an
  13.             _X_1_1_R_5-based X server.
  14.  
  15.           +o New R6 functionality supported in Irix 6.2 includes
  16.             Inter Client Exchange (ICE), Session Management (SM),
  17.             the SYNC extension (client-side only), the BIG-REQUESTS
  18.             extension (client-side only) and the XC-MISC extension
  19.             (client-side only).

  21.           +o Extensions supported only on the client-side can only
  22.             be used if the client connects to an X11R6 server that
  23.             supports these extensions (i.e., a non-SGI server). It
  24.             is expected that these extensions will be fully
  25.             supported in a later release of Irix, when the X server
  26.             will also be X11R6 based.

  28.           +o There are no plans to support the X Imaging Extension
  29.             (XIE) and the MIT-KERBEROS-5 authorization scheme which
  30.             were released with X11R6.
  31.  
  32.           +o _I_r_i_x _6._2 has full support for the new X Consortium
  33.             double-buffering extension, DBE.
  34.  
  35.           +o _I_r_i_x _6._2 supports a new SGI-only extension, XSGIvc, for
  36.             video control of the graphics back end. See "man
  37.             XSGIvc" for details.

  39.           +o _I_r_i_x _6._2 supports execution of NMBX double-buffered
  40.             applications, but no longer supports building such
  41.             applications (NMBX was an SGI-only double-buffering
  42.             extension).
